ABOUT THE CAPTAIN

Born and raised in Tampa, Captain Steve Butler is a second generation firefighter for Tampa fire rescue. Fishing the local waters of the Tampa Bay area has been a passion enjoyed since early childhood. Captain Steve Butler is a fully liscensed master merchant mariner by the United States Coast Guard. From the Florida Keys, up and down Florida’s West coast, fishing has been a driving force in his life.

I have been a Firefighter for 25 yrs. The last 3 yrs, I have been assigned to Station 17 on Davis Island Fire Boat 1. Previous assignments have all been on the south end of town District 2. Many hours have been spent practicing and training for events that may occur on the waters of Tampa Bay, along with many hours of personal time gives me an edge when it comes down to knowledge of the local waters of Tampa Bay.
